ZAGREB, Sept 5 (Hina) - The Zagreb Jewish Municipality and the "Gavro Schwartz" association, which is B'nai B'rith's branch in Croatia, organised the Open Day of the Jewish Heritage and Culture in the Zagreb Jewish Municipality's offices on Sunday.

The head of the "Gavro Schwartz" association, Dragan Stern, said the door to the Jewish heritage was opened today in 27 European countries. The event is held in Croatia for the fourth year.

Zagreb Jewish Municipality president Ognjen Kraus said that a large part of the material heritage of European Jews was destroyed in the Holocaust.

The Open Day of the Jewish Heritage and Culture included an exhibition by painter Rafael Talvija, who was born in Sofia in 1920, but has lived in Croatia for 30 years.

The event also included a concert by the "Lira" choir, which is marking its 50th anniversary this year. The choir performed traditional Jewish songs in Ladino and Yiddish.

Visitors at the event were also offered Jewish dishes.
