PRISTINA, Aug 10 (Hina) - A Serbian coalition comprising three
parties informed the Kosovo Electoral Commission in a letter on Tuesday it was
withdrawing its candidacy for parliamentary elections the province is holding
on October 23.
The coalition is made of the Movement of Forces of Serbia (PSS), the
Serbian Resistance Movement (SPOT) and the New Serbia.
SPOT leader Momcilo Trajkovic said the coalition would not run in the
election in order to honour the Serbian government's recommendation to local
Serbs not to take part in the ballot. He added he did not expect the Serbian
government to change its position.
The PSS said in a statement the ambassadors of the United Nations Security
Council and the contact group had also been notified about the withdrawal.
