The second parliamentary elections will be held on October 23 and today was the last day to register for participation.
The Serb coalition "Povratak" (Return), which has 22 seats in the Kosovo parliament, has not indicated intention to participate in the elections.
UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) spokesman Neiraj Singh said he hoped that local Serbs would take part in the vote.
Representatives of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mission have said that the registration deadline has expired, however, UNMIK has the power to break the rules and make it possible for local Serbs to participate in the vote if they decide to do so.
