SKOPJE, April 28 (Hina) - Macedonians went to the polls on Wednesday to elect a new president to succeed Boris Trajkovski, who died in a plane crash in February.#L# According to first reports, voting in the run-off got under way at 7AM and no incidents were reported. Presidential candidates who entered the second election round are pro-Western Prime Minister Branko Crvenkovski and Sasko Kedev, a heart surgeon who runs for the nationalist VMRO-DPMNE party. There are close to 1.7 million eligible Macedonia voters and according to the Justice Ministry more than 200,000 do not reside in the country. The turnout in the first round on April 14 was 55 percent, when none of four candidates won an absolute majority, forcing a second round between the two frontrunners. If the election were to fail, it should be repeated from scratch in 40 days. (Hina) it
