STRASBOURG, April 27 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said on Tuesday his government was willing to settle a claim filed by the surviving members of the Zec family.
STRASBOURG, April 27 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said on Tuesday his government was willing to settle a claim filed by the surviving members of the Zec family.#L# "The Croatian Government is looking into a way of resolving this painful problem," Sanader told reporters in Strasbourg where he was attending a regular session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Three members of the Zec family were killed in Zagreb at the beginning of the war in the early 1990s, and the perpetrators were not brought to court due to a procedural error although they admitted their guilt. The surviving members have demanded an out-of-court settlement with the State. The Nacional weekly said in its latest issue on Tuesday that Sanader wanted the State to agree to a settlement for moral reasons. On the subject of the Law Banning Work on Sunday, which went into force at the beginning of the year, Sanader said that the Government would respect a decision of the Constitutional Court, which meets on Wednesday to discuss a proposal to revoke the provisions prohibiting work on Sunday. Asked about the visa regime with Serbia and Montenegro, Sanader said that the Government was willing to extend the visa-free regime due to expire at the end of June, but that "Belgrade should ratify the agreement on readmission of persons".
