THE HAGUE/ZAGREB, April 19 (Hina) - The ICTY Appeals Chamber cut a Bosnian Serb general's jail sentence for the Srebrenica massacre by 11 years on Monday after reducing his genocide conviction to one of aiding and abetting.

years on Monday after reducing his genocide conviction to one of

The U.N. court cut Radislav Krstic's sentence from 46 years to 35
years after ruling he was not directly responsible for Europe's worst
atrocity since World War Two.
The Appeals Chamber unanimously founded that "Bosnian Serb forces
carried out genocide against the Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica on 11
July 1995" and executed between 7,000 and 8,000 Bosnian men and
persecuted women and children.
Krstic (55) was the commander of the Drina Corps of the Republika
Srpska . The Appeals Chamber decided that "Krstic was not a supporter
of that plan, as Commander of the Drina Corps he permitted the Main
Staff to call upon Drina Corps resources and to employ those
resources."
He was found guilty of genocide at The Hague in 2001.
The verdict is final and the time spent in the ICTY detention will be
included in the sentence.
