ASHDOWN SAYS BOSNIAN SERB REPORT ON SREBRENICA MASSACRE SCANDALOUS

SARAJEVO, April 15 (Hina) - The international community's high representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Paddy Ashdown, has described as "scandalous" a report by a special commission set up by the Bosnian Serb government to determine what happened in Srebrenica in July 1995 when Serb forces under Ratko Mladic killed at least 8,000 Bosniaks.
SARAJEVO, April 15 (Hina) - The international community's high representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Paddy Ashdown, has described as "scandalous" a report by a special commission set up by the Bosnian Serb government to determine what happened in Srebrenica in July 1995 when Serb forces under Ratko Mladic killed at least 8,000 Bosniaks.#L# A statement issued by the Office of the High Representatives on Thursday says that the interim report, instead of providing answers to the question as to what happened in Srebrenica, "sets out a catalogue of unbelievable difficulties and obstructionism" in collecting facts. "It is simply not acceptable that nearly a decade after the shocking crimes of Srebrenica there are still individuals or institutions in the Bosnian Serb entity, the Srpska Republic, who are trying to cover up these crimes," the statement said. Ashdown warned that "the implications of the interim report are of such a serious nature that I will be forced to take direct action." A decision on the steps to be taken by the international community in this matter will be announced on Friday. Ashdown has explicitly said he holds Serb entity president Dragan Cavic and premier Dragan Mikerevic directly responsible for the work of the Srebrenica fact-finding commission. (Hina) vm sb
