several international agreements, amended the law regulating the
rights of war veterans and their families, and unanimously passed a
law introducing flour stamps.#L#
The purpose of flour stamps, which are to be introduced by July 1, is
to put the flour market in order. According to government estimates,
about two billion kuna is turned over annually in illegal flour sales.
The new measure is expected to bring 35 million kuna to the national
budget.
Deputies unanimously adopted amendments to the Food Act, under which
the Food Agency will no longer have its head office in Zagreb but in
Osijek.
The law regulating the rights of war veterans and their families was
amended with 33 votes against. The amendments suspended further
reviews of cases of veterans awarded disabled war veteran status and
stipulated retroactive application of the amended law.
The parliament ratified a EUR90 million loan agreement with the
European Investment Bank for the construction of a EUR180 million
natural gas pipeline system, a loan agreement with the International
Bank for Reconstruction and Development for an energy efficiency
project, and an agreement with Belarus on avoidance of double
taxation.
