The amendments were tabled by the coalition of the People's Party
(HNS) and the Alliance of Primorje and Gorski Kotar (PGS) and Libra,
and were backed by the leading opposition party, the Social Democrats
(SDP), and the Peasant Party (HSS).
HNS leader Vesna Pusic said that the amendments would enable counties,
towns and municipalities to receive the full amount of income tax
revenue, which would be used for their economic development and would
help reduce huge differences in the development of individual
regions.
The Parliament will continue its session next week.
