public without officials' prior consent.#L#
HSLS vice president Djurdja Adlesic told reporters on Wednesday she
would start collecting MPs' signatures of support to have the bill
discussed in urgent procedure today.
Commenting on the complaints of some officials, notably MPs, that they
cannot consent to having their declarations of assets published
because they bear personal data, such as addresses and licence plates,
Adlesic said there was no provision stipulating that this data had to
be entered into the declaration of assets.
It is sufficient to enter, for example, the size of one's flat, the
place of residence, or the brand of one's car, which should dispel
officials' fears that the disclosure of personal data will make them
criminals' targets, Adlesic said.
HSLS leader Ivan Cehok said the bill of amendments would contribute to
the viability of the law and erasing the perception that all public
officials, notably politicians, are inclined towards bypassing the
law.
It is therefore necessary to set rules and criteria under which it
will be possible to determine public figures' assets as accurately as
possible with a view to supervising what they acquired through their
political engagement, Cehok said.
