ZAGREB, March 30 (Hina) - The parliamentary committee on internal affairs and national security on Tuesday took note of reports on the performance of the counterintelligence, intelligence and military-security agencies in 2003, and voiced several objections.#L# Committee chairman Ivan Jarnjak briefed reporters about the conclusions of today's session, among which is one calling for the urgent organisation of intelligence personnel training. The basic training would be conducted in Croatia while specialisation would take place abroad. The committee endorsed the demand of Pero Kovacevic of the Croatian Party of Rights to ask the interior ministry to submit a report on the so-called Ostojic team. The demand comes in the wake of former police chief Ranko Ostojic's recent statement that he set up a special police team within the interior ministry to combat organised crime because he did not trust the security services. Jarnjak announced that the committee would convene on Thursday to consider a report by the Council for the Civil Supervision of Security Services on the alleged tapping of several journalists' phones in 2003 by the Counterintelligence Agency. The agency refuted the allegations last week. (Hina) ha sb
