BELGRADE, March 21 (Hina) - Serbia-Montenegro proclaimed Sunday a day of mourning for the mass attacks on Serbs and the burning of their property and religious buildings in Kosovo earlier this week.#L# The response to the appeal the electronic media made on Saturday to all who could help Serbs in Kosovo with food, medicines, clothing and tents was big. Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus said on Serbian Radio and Television on Saturday evening that ethnic cleansing in Kosovo had been stopped and a "loose balance" been established. He added NATO was determined to maintain this balance and protect Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo, and that the Serbia-Montenegro Army was ready to help if officially asked by the NATO-led Kosovo Force. Labus said PM Vojislav Kostunica would present the Serbian government's plan for the solving of the Kosovo issue in Brussels on March 23 and in other European capitals after that. Serbia will advocate a political solution similar to the one applied in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Labus added. The Belgrade-based daily Politika today published a letter from Sandzak Mufti Muamer Zukorlic to Kostunica, in which the Islamic religious leader demands of Serbia-Montenegro authorities to guarantee the security of the Islamic community and its facilities in Serbia.
