According to SFOR, General Subotic was apprehended in Banja Luka
shortly before 22.00 hours Wednesday and his family has been notified
of his arrest.
Spokesman for SFOR Dave Sullivan said Subotic was taken to a security
location for questioning. SFOR said in the statement the operation
came as "part of SFOR's continued assistance to the Bosnia-Herzegovina
authorities in the apprehension of persons
indicted for war crimes and their supporters."
"We will continue to act on the information gathered over the last few
weeks as it brings us closer to breaking the war criminals'
support network and ultimately to the apprehension of the war
criminals themselves," SFOR said in the statement
Subotic, who was Radovan Karadzic's defence minister at the beginning
of the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and later served as the
head of the Bosnian Serb President's Office for Medals, is believed to
be among Karadzic abettors.
During the last two months SFOR detained and released another two
Bosnian Serbs, believed to be maintaining close links with Karadzic.
