ZAGREB, Feb 25 (Hina) - The executive boards of branches of the Croatian Journalists' Association (HND) and the Journalists' Trade Union in Croatian Television (HTV) on Wednesday issued a statement saying that they were dissatisfied with the fact that two weeks after the establishment of the Culture Ministry's commission in charge of amending the law on Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), the public had not yet been informed about the results, namely the proposals on which sections of the existent law should be amended.
ZAGREB, Feb 25 (Hina) - The executive boards of branches of the Croatian Journalists' Association (HND) and the Journalists' Trade Union in Croatian Television (HTV) on Wednesday issued a statement saying that they were dissatisfied with the fact that two weeks after the establishment of the Culture Ministry's commission in charge of amending the law on Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), the public had not yet been informed about the results, namely the proposals on which sections of the existent law should be amended.#L# Representatives of the union and the association call on the Council of Europe and the OSCE Mission in Croatia to say whether, when and on the basis of what arguments they had concluded that it was necessary to urgently change the law on HRT as an important pre-condition for Croatia's entry into the Euroepan Union. They call on the Croatian parliament and government to say, before the debate on the amendments to the law, whether they have a fair idea about the programmes and the role of public radio and television in the contemporary Europe and its importance for democracy, civil society, the protection of national interests and other standards cited by the Council of Europe.
