ZAGREB, Feb 25 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Wednesday started
its fourth sitting during which it will discuss, among other items, a
draft state budget for 2004.#L#
In the next two weeks, the parliament will discuss some 30 items,
including the draft state budget and a bill on its execution.
Some new items were included in the agenda today, such as bills of
amendments to the law on the prevention of conflict of interest in
public offices, which were sponsored by the government, the Croatian
Party of Rights (HSP), the Croatian People's Party/Primorje-Gorski
Kotar Alliance/Libra, and the Istrian Democratic Assembly, as well as
bills on transfer of authority, sponsored by the HSP and the
government.
The parliamentary majority insisted, despite opposition from the SDP,
that the agenda also include a bill confirming the memorandum of
understanding between Croatia and the United States on the protection
of intellectual property.
The SDP requested that the bill not be included into the agenda until
the parliament obtained the opinion of the Croatian Chamber of the
Economy and the pharmaceutical industry on the matter.
The sitting will start with question time.
