Later today, Solana will hold talks with Croatian President Stjepan
Mesic, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and Parliament President Vladimir
Seks. He will also address members of the Croatian parliament's
committees on foreign affairs and European integration.
Solana and the Croatian officials are expected to address Croatia's
drawing closer the EU and NATO.
This is Solana's first visit to Croatia after the recent parliamentary
elections. Prior to his arrival to Zagreb, the EU High Representative
positively assessed the work of the new government.
He also stressed the importance of cooperation between Zagreb and the
UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague, but added, however, that the
cooperation with the ICTY would not be the central topic of his talks
with the Croatian officials.
