The minister and the ambassador discussed possibilities of improving
economic cooperation, particularly in food production.
According to provisional figures released by the Croatian Central
Bureau of Statistics, in 2003 the trade between the two countries
amounted to 221.37 million US dollars. Croatia's export to Switzerland
rose by 26 percent to 38.93 million, with an increase of 10.2 percent
in imports from Switzerland, which were worth 182.47 million. Thus,
Croatia's deficit in the trade with Switzerland came to 143.58
million.
According to the figures cited in the ministry's press release,
Switzerland ranked ninth on the list of countries that invested in
Croatia last year, when its investments totalled 1.18 billion US
dollars.
