ZAGREB, Jan 29(Hina) - The chairman of the Croatian Bishops' Conference (HKB) Council for Family Affairs, Krk Bishop Valter Zupan, on Thursday reiterated the disagreement of Croatian bishops with the MEMOAIDS programme aimed at
educating young people about the prevention of AIDS, adding that from the empirical and scientific point of view this programme was unacceptable because it promoted the use of condoms.

(HKB) Council for Family Affairs, Krk Bishop Valter Zupan, on Thursday
reiterated the disagreement of Croatian bishops with the MEMOAIDS
programme aimed at educating young people about the prevention of
AIDS, adding that from the empirical and scientific point of view this
programme was unacceptable because it promoted the use of condoms.#L#
Bishop Zupan cited Uganda as an example to be followed, saying that
this country discouraged sexual intercourse before marriage and
promoted marital faithfulness.
Zupan said the Catholic Church in Croatia supported the Teen STAR
programme that promotes comprehensive sexual education and development
of whole personality. The programme is taught as an optional subject
in 36 elementary and secondary schools in Croatia for the first time
this school year.
