Around 7.4 million visitors, or slightly more than 83 per cent, came
from foreign countries, an increase of seven per cent on 2002. The
number of domestic holidaymakers also rose by seven per cent.
Most of the foreign tourists were Germans (1.55 million, five percent
increase), followed by Italians (1.2 million, five percent increase),
Slovenes (918,400, six percent increase), Austrians (708,500, three
percent increase), Czechs (699,400, same as in 2002), and Hungarians
(356,100, 12 percent increase).
