ZAGREB, Jan 18 (Hina) - Over a half of Croatians, namely 53 percent of
them, did not spend holidays outside their permanent place of
residence in 2003, and 47 percent travelled during holidays which
lasted at least five days.#L#
This was a mild fall of two percent In comparison to figures on
holidays trips in 2002 when 49 percent of Croatians travelled for the
purpose of holidays, according to results of a survey which the Gfk
Centre for the market research issued last week. Lat month, the centre
interviewed 1,000 respondents about their trips for holidays which
lasted at least five days in 2003.
The highest number of trips were made by citizens of Zagreb and its
larger area (74 percent of citizens). According to the survey, 71
percent of citizens of cities with over 100,000 inhabitants travelled
for holidays in 2003.
Concerning the age structure of holiday-makers, 66 percent of
Croatians old between 15 to 24 travelled last year. They were followed
by those of age from 25 to 44 year (62 percent). The least 'agile'
were citizens above 65 with 18 percent of them being on trip outside
their place of residence for holidays.
An obvious results was that the higher income in the household, the
higher percentage of holidays outside the place of residence. Thus, 75
percent of citizens with income higher that 6,000 kuna travelled last
year, and 24 percent of those with 1,270 kuna of income in the
household.
