BELGRADE, Feb 4(Hina) - In the continuation of the constituent session
on Wednesday, the Serbian Assembly elected five vice-presidents of the
Assembly: Gordana Pop Lazic and Stefan Zankov of the Radical Party,
Predrag Markovic of G17 Plus, Vojislav Mihailovic of the Serbian
Renewal Movement and New Serbia coalition and Zoran Andjelkovic of the
Socialist Party. #L#
The Democratic Party, the only party not to have proposed its
candidate for the post of parliamentary vice-president, voted in
favour of the candidates nominated by the other parties.
Earlier in the day, the vice-president of the Democratic Party of
Serbia (DSS), Dragan Marsicanin, was elected president of the Assembly
with the support of the Socialist Party of Slobodan Milosevic. The
Democratic Party abstained from voting.
The Assembly is due to meet on Friday when parliamentary committees
are expected to be formed.
