THE HAGUE/ZAGREB, Feb 3(Hina) - The UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague
on Tuesday postponed the trial of former Yugoslav President Slobodan
Milosevic for a week due to the defendant's illness. #L#
According to unofficial reports, Milosevic has the flu and was found
unfit for trial.
To complete the two-year presentation of evidence, during which they
have introduced some 300 witnesses, the prosecutors have seven more
working days, however, because of the latest postponement, they will
not be able to use them by 17 February, as ruled by judges.
This week the tribunal was to hear the testimonies of a former
international peace mediator, Carl Bildt, and a former Yugoslav Army
chief-of-staf, General Momcilo Perisic.
Once the presentation of evidence is completed, the court will have a
three-month recess so that Milosevic, who is accused of genocide in
Bosnia-Herzegovina and crimes against humanity in Croatia and Kosovo,
can prepare defence witnesses and evidence.
