PRISTINA, Feb 2(Hina) - Avdil Jakupi aka Jackal, commander of Albanian guerrilla units in Macedonia - the Albanian National Army (ANA), and another ANA member, Adnan Abazi, have surrendered to US international troops in Kosovo, the
Kosovo Force (KFOR) reported on Sunday evening.
PRISTINA, Feb 2(Hina) - Avdil Jakupi aka Jackal, commander of Albanian
guerrilla units in Macedonia - the Albanian National Army (ANA), and
another ANA member, Adnan Abazi, have surrendered to US international
troops in Kosovo, the Kosovo Force (KFOR) reported on Sunday evening.#L#
Both men were taken into police custody. Jakupi is wanted by
Macedonian authorities on charges of participation in terrorist
activities. Abazi was taken into custody as a member of the ANA, which
the UN authorities in Kosovo have declared a terrorist organisation.
Abazi had an ANA identification card on him during the surrender.
Both men were transferred to the US base Bondsteel for questioning,
after which they were handed over to the UN police in Kosovo.
Macedonian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Mirjana Kontevska said last
night the authorities in Skoplje would seek their extradition once the
required procedure was completed.
