ZAGREB, Jan 26(Hina) - The deadline for the submission of candidacies for several different elections at several levels at which national minorities will elect their councillors to bodies of local and regional self-government, which
are scheduled for February 15, expires today, Monday.

for several different elections at several levels at which national
minorities will elect their councillors to bodies of local and
regional self-government, which are scheduled for February 15, expires

Sixteen national minorities will elect 3,521 council members and 16
representatives.
By-elections are organised for representatives of national minorities
to bodies of local and regional self-government, as well as for
representatives of Croats where they are the minority population.
The by-elections are organised in units of local and regional
self-government in which the required number of councillors was not
elected at polls last May, while repeat elections are held in units
for minorities which did not put up their candidates in May.
