Lancuzanin was the commander of the "Leva Supoderica" volunteer unit,
which at the time was under the control of the former Yugoslav
People's Army.
During his testimony at the trial of former Yugoslav President
Slobodan Milosevic before the UN war crimes tribunal for the former
Yugoslavia, the former head of the JNA's security service said that
members of his unit had taken part in the execution of Croat prisoners
of war at the Ovcara farm outside Vukovar. Most of the prisoners were
civilians abducted from the Vukovar hospital.
Lancuzanin and another 12 persons are under investigation, while the
trial of eight people who have been indicted for the Ovcara crime is
due to start at a special war crimes court in Belgrade on March 9.
