VUKOVAR, Jan 13 (Hina) - The trial of eight former members of Croatian Serb rebel police forces from Borovo near the eastern town of Vukovar, accused of war crimes committed in 1991, resumed on Tuesday at the Vukovar County Court with
the questioning of three new witnesses.
VUKOVAR, Jan 13 (Hina) - The trial of eight former members of Croatian
Serb rebel police forces from Borovo near the eastern town of Vukovar,
accused of war crimes committed in 1991, resumed on Tuesday at the
Vukovar County Court with the questioning of three new witnesses.#L#
The eight men are indicted for crimes against humanity and
international law and war crimes against civilians. They are charged
with the imprisonment, inhumane treatment and torture of civilians,
which they committed between 10 August and 13 September 1991, while
they were members of the "militia" of the so-called Serb Autonomous
Region of Krajina and the Territorial Defence of Borovo.
The three witnesses described their imprisonment and beatings and
other forms of torture they were subjected to on a daily basis.
The trial resumes on Wednesday with the questioning of new witnesses.
