prisoners of war at the Ovcara farm outside the eastern Croatian town of Vukovar on 20 and 21 November 1991, the Belgrade-based "Danas" daily quoted sources close to the investigation.
BELGRADE, Jan 20(Hina) - The Serbian special war crimes prosecutor has
filed a request for an investigation into 17 persons suspected of
committing war crimes against prisoners of war at the Ovcara farm
outside the eastern Croatian town of Vukovar on 20 and 21 November
1991, the Belgrade-based "Danas" daily quoted sources close to the
investigation.#L#
In December 2003 the war crimes prosecution indicted eight persons for
war crimes at Ovcara. Four of them are among the 17 latest suspects,
which brings the total number of suspects for crimes committed against
Croatian civilians at Ovcara to 21.
The latest request for investigation refers to members of the
Territorial Defence unit and the "Leva Supoderica" unit.
The trial for war crimes at Ovcara should start on March 9 in
Belgrade.
