NEUM, Jan 17 (Hina) - The main committee of the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) convened in Neum on Saturday and adopted a decision which proposes reducing the powers of Bosnia's federation -- the Croat-Muslim entity.#L# The party concluded it would ask for the adoption of a constitutional law on the transfer of powers within the exclusive jurisdiction of the federation onto the state, and for said law to regulate the transfer of powers which until now have been shared by the federal and cantonal authorities onto the latter, said a statement issued after the meeting. The main committee bound the party's presidency to draw up a work strategy aimed at protecting the national interests of Croats in Bosnia. The presidency was also bound to draft a code of conduct for party members and officials. This decision ensued after participants in the meeting demanded the ousting of HDZ BiH officials who did not support Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader's HDZ party in the constituency where the diaspora voted at Croatia's November parliamentary elections. The main committee decided to turn down a proposal according to which Mostar would be divided into six constituencies for municipal elections in October. The proposal has been put forward by Norbert Winterstein, chairman of a commission for the reorganisation of the southern city. The HDZ BiH maintains the proposal puts the city's Croats into an unequal position with regard to the Muslim residents and that Mostar should, therefore, have one constituency. Party president Barisa Colak announced the possibility of a number of HDZ BiH officials holding posts in state and entity bodies being replaced for failing to meet expectations. (Hina) ha
