"We will try to define problems in bilateral relations and look for
possible quick solutions," Rupel told a news conference on Friday,
adding that the meeting would primarily focus on the restoration of
trust between the two countries.
Rupel said Slovenia would fully support Croatia's ambitions to join
the European Union as soon as possible, adding that the country's
priorities on the foreign political front in 2004 when Slovenia would
become a full
member of the EU would be activities in the western Balkans and good
relations with neighbouring countries.
He declined to comment on the news released by Croatian daily Novi
List on Friday regarding alleged proposals from Zagreb and readiness
to reach compromise regarding the sea border. Slovenia has not been
officially informed about this.
The Rijeka-based daily cited Croatian diplomatic sources as saying
that Croatia was ready to reach compromise with Slovenia regarding the
demarcation in Piran Bay and that it was ready to enable Slovenia to
have exit to international waters should Ljubljana stop insisting on
solutions from the initialled Racan-Drnovsek agreement.
