HEP confirmed on Tuesday that it received a request from a
Slovene-Bosnian consortium yesterday to allow it to transfer power
from Bosnia to Slovenia via Croatia in January 2004.
HEP gave the green light on Tuesday, explaining that approval was not
possible earlier because of necessary technical analyses of the system
and circumstances.
Upon reviewing the technical security and stability of the lines, it
was established that electricity could be transferred from Bosnia's
system via Croatia to Slovenia. In this sense, HEP on Tuesday notified
the consortium of its positive answer.
The Bosnian Elektroprivreda on Monday accused HEP of making the
transit of electricity conditional on the resolution of problems in
providing the aluminium plant in Mostar with electricity. A company
from Croatia's seaside city of Sibenik holds a 12-percent share in the
Mostar plant.
