The time up to the session will be used to prepare it as well as to
carry out some technical tasks, such as agreeing on the seating chart
and the division of work space for the dozen clubs of deputies.
Those issues should be addressed by parliament's presidency, due to
convene on January 12.
Prior to the first session, the clubs of deputies and the
parliamentary parties should also agree on the make-up of parliament's
20-plus committees, which have to prepare materials for the session.
Four working bodies were formed at the new parliament's inaugural
session last month -- the credentials and privileges commission, the
committee on elections, appointments and administration, the committee
on legislation, and the committee on the Constitution, rule book and
political system.
Croatia's fifth parliament was constituted on December 22.
