BELGRADE, Jan 6 (Hina) - The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church,
Patriarch Pavle, and all other dignitaries on Tuesday sent a message
on the occasion of Christmas which Orthodox believers celebrate under
the Old Style (Julian) calendar, namely on 7 January.#L#
In the message, which will be read out at Christmas services in all
Serb Orthodox churches in the country and abroad, Patriarch Pavle said
that "this is time for us to admit before God and ourselves that our
lives, which have not been worthy of the glorious Christian name, have
contributed to the crises we find ourselves in."
Appealing for repentance, the Orthodox Church's head says that
"confession is a joy and not mere apology as it is not sufficient to
call oneself a Christian, but one should really be it," he said among
other things.
Pavle will lead Christmas liturgy in Pec, Kosovo.
