ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - Investigators with the U.N. war crimes tribunal at The Hague have summonsed six formerly senior Croatian Interior Ministry officials to be interviewed as witnesses, Jutarnji list daily says in its Sunday's
issue, stating this information has been confirmed by several high-ranking government officials.
ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - Investigators with the U.N. war crimes tribunal
at The Hague have summonsed six formerly senior Croatian Interior
Ministry officials to be interviewed as witnesses, Jutarnji list daily
says in its Sunday's issue, stating this information has been
confirmed by several high-ranking government officials.#L#
According to the same source, the six officials are former Interior
Minister Ivan Jarnjak, his assistant Josko Moric, former interior
minister assistant for criminal police Marijan Benko, former commander
of the Lucko Antiterrorist Unit and current commander of the Interior
Ministry Intervention Police Josip Turkalj, former Special Police
commander Ante Soljic, and former Special Police employee Zdravko
Janic.
HTnet said on its web portal yesterday that Turkalj and Benko had
received the summonses via the government's office for cooperation
with the Hague tribunal.
It has been announced the interviews should take place at the
tribunal's offices in Zagreb in early February. The tribunal's
investigators are interested in the 1993-5 period.
Jutarnji says that none of the six mentioned above has confirmed
receipt of the summons but that all are reportedly willing to be
interviewed.
