MOSTAR, Dec 22 (Hina) - Abandoning the Dayton agreement would undermine the stability of Bosnia-Herzegovina, so it is important to continue upgrading it, the architect of the agreement, US diplomat Richard Holbrooke, said in a statement broadcast by Bosnian state television on Thursday in a special programme devoted to the peace agreement.

Hobrooke said that the international community could not allow Republika Srpska, the Serb entity within Bosnia-Herzegovina, to become a separate state.

There is one state and it is called Bosnia-Herzegovina. It has two parts just as other countries have several provinces, he added.

The US diplomat said that Bosnian Serb wartime leader Radovan Karadzic must be arrested to make it possible for Bosnia-Herzegovina to join European integration processes.

Karadzic is probably hiding in a monastery somewhere in eastern Bosnia, surrounded by paramilitary thieves, as he tries to make Republika Srpska a separate mini-state, Holbrooke said.

Holbrooke welcomed the latest political and diplomatic involvement of the Bush administration in the Balkans, saying that it was in the national and security interests of the United States. In this context Holbrooke said that Kosovo was a much more difficult problem than Bosnia-Herzegovina.
