WASHINGTON, Nov 22 (Hina) - The United States and Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday marked the tenth anniversary of the Dayton accord by praising the achievements of the agreement which ended the war in Bosnia and calling for changes to the Dayton Constitution which would enable the establishment of a unified country and by requesting that fugitive war crimes suspects Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic be arrested.

US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice met the leaders of Bosnia-Herzegovina and organised lunch for diplomats to mark the anniversary of the Dayton accord and talk to them about ways to accelerate Bosnia's progress towards Euro-Atlantic associations.

Today, under the leadership of President George W. Bush the US is trying to help Bosnia become a unified country, arrest all war criminals and achieve permanent peace in Kosovo, Rice said.

The US this year launched a diplomatic action aimed at changing the Dayton Constitution in Bosnia and launching negotiations on the final status of Kosovo so as to ensure permanent security, democracy and reconciliation in the region.

The leaders of Bosnian parliamentary parties agreed to implement constitutional changes by March 2006 which would strengthen Bosnian central institutions so as to establish more efficient authorities and help Bosnia join NATO and the European Union as soon as possible.

Bosnian Serb leaders signed a statement expressing their commitment to arrest and extradite Mladic and Karadzic,

Rice and Bosnian Foreign Minister Mladen Ivanic signed two bilateral agreement at the State Departnment. the agreement on the status of forces will intensify defence cooperation and enable the US to use objects in Bosnia in joint activities and the agreement on open skies will facilitate civil flights.
