ZAGREB, Dec 20 (Hina) - The ministers of the interior of Croatia and Bulgaria, Ivica Kirin and Rumen Petkov respectively, signed an agreement on police cooperation in Zagreb on Tuesday.

The agreement refers, among other things, to cooperation in the suppression of organised crime, human and drug trafficking, and money laundering.

Minister Petkov said the agreement guaranteed successful operative work and exchange of information between the two countries, as well as in the entire region.

He recalled that cooperation between Croatia and Bulgaria had been very dynamic, which was evidenced by the fact that the Bulgarian president had visited Croatia seven times since 1992.

Bulgaria supports Croatia in its EU entry talks and is ready to offer its regulations and training to Croatian police officers, Petkov said.

Minister Kirin said that police cooperation was part of efforts to fight organised crime in the Balkans.

Asked about reports about a group of Croatian nationals who were suspected of mobster killings by the Bulgarian police last year, Petkov said this was an unpleasant incident.

The police have forwarded the collected data to the prosecution, he said, adding that he did not want to prejudge the decision of the judicial bodies.
