EC, southeast European countries agree on European Common Aviation Area

ZAGREB/BRUSSELS, Dec 20 (Hina) - The European Commission and eightSoutheast European countries, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina,Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia-Montenegro and the UNadministration in Kosovo, as well as Norway and Iceland have reachedagreement on establishing the European Common Aviation Area (ECAA).
ZAGREB/BRUSSELS, Dec 20 (Hina) - The European Commission and eight Southeast European countries, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia-Montenegro and the UN administration in Kosovo, as well as Norway and Iceland have reached agreement on establishing the European Common Aviation Area (ECAA).

According to the agreement reached in Brussels on Tuesday, the ECAA will create an efficient network for transport by air and will play a vital role in the future integration and development of Europe as a whole.

The negotiations on the matter were launched in March 2005.

The agreement is expected to be signed during Austria's Presidency of the European Union, in the first half of 2006.
