The decision was annulled following discovery of new facts that were not considered at the time of adoption of a final decision by the Tax Administration which turned down an appeal by the HRT to its initial decision ordering payment of tax obligations.
The latest decision annuls all legal effects the initial decision would have produced, the ministry said.
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said earlier in the day he had instructed Finance Minister Ivan Suker to annul the decision by the Tax Administration to collect its VAT claims towards the HRT and to reconsider it.
Speaking to reporters in Vukovar, Sanader expressed regret at what he called inappropriate claims that were heard in the parliament during a debate on the HRT in the last few days.
The government will do all to promote freedom of the media, because there can be no democracy without freedom of the media, Sanader said.
There must, however, exist responsibility for what is stated or written, the PM added.
