In a brief statement, the Slovene ministry reiterated the positions it stated on Monday and claimed that the outstanding issues should be closed during Croatia's European Union entry negotiations.
The Slovene ministry underlined once again that the time of Croatia's negotiations would be an opportunity for the two countries to hold constructive talks and settle issues in the European spirit.
The Croatian ministry's statement earlier today came in the wake of documents the Slovene ministry released on its web site on Monday containing positions on the border dispute with Croatia and ex-Yugoslavia's guarantees for foreign exchange savings.
The fundamental assumption for closing those issues is a true, objective and fair presentation of the course of negotiations, which is not the case in the latest Slovene position, the Croatian statement said.
The Croatian ministry also said it was unnecessary and inappropriate of Slovenia to use its membership of the European Union and NATO to impose conditions or pressure Croatia. It added that linking and making the closure of the border issue conditional on the closure of other outstanding issues was contrary to international standards and further burdened relations.
