ZAGREB, Dec 8 (Hina) - In the last few months Croatia has taken significant steps to improve the business climate in the country, such as judicial reform, a one-stop shop project called Hitro.hr, and has set up an export and investment promotion agency and a team at the Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship to create an attractive investment environment, Deputy Prime Minister Damir Polancec said on Thursday.

Polancec was speaking at a workshop entitled "Improving the Investment Climate - Judicial Reform" organised as part of the Foreign Investment Advisory Service (FIAS) project "Removing Administrative Obstacles to Investment in Croatia". The FIAS is a joint service of the International Finance Corporation and the World Bank.

Polancec said that the steps were aimed at achieving one of the government's priorities -- increasing economic competitiveness.

Croatia has a stable economy and the potential to grow at a higher rate than the four per cent announced in the pre-accession economic programme (PEP), and one of the crucial preconditions for that is to attract foreign capital, not only through privatisation but also through greenfield investments, the deputy prime minister said.
