The DVB is a standard for the transmission of digital television signals, and the Council made a decision on the establishment of the DVB Forum in late July this year with an aim of adopting conclusions which will be a basis for institutions and economic subjects in Croatia for the implementation of the DVB standard.
The Forum will address public needs for transition from analogue television networks to digital television in Croatia.
Some of the tasks are to define the timetable for closing analogue television broadcasting, models for financing the introduction of digital TV signals and education of the public in this segment. The digital television makes it possible for the audience to enjoy additional services such as inter-active television, access to the Internet, e-government, TV voting, etc.
The Croatian Telecommunications Agency has been working on the project for two years in compliance with recommendations given by the European Commission. All European Union member-states should fully replace analogue television networks with digital television by 2012.
