He was speaking to the press in Barcelona, where he had attended a Euro-Mediterranean Group summit, after meeting his counterparts Sergei Stanisev of Bulgaria and Calin Popescu-Tariceanu of Romania.
Criteria for accession to CEFTA demand that a candidate country be a member of the World Trade Organisation and a European Union accession candidate, said Sanader.
"Now we will lower these criteria and thus contribute, as CEFTA members, to the overall stabilisation of Southeast Europe."
The three officials agreed a meeting in Zagreb in the near future at which economy ministers or state secretaries would adjust criteria so that Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Macedonia, and Moldova could join CEFTA.
