This is a legal obligation based on a decision which the Constitutional Court adopted seven years ago, Skare Ozbolt said and added that those who were had objections now and were members of Racan's government must remember that amendments to the law on the compensation for seized property were adopted during their term in office.
Racan's government formalised negotiations with Austria in 2003 and this government has finalised them, Skare Ozbolt said.
Croatia expects some 440 requests from Austrian citizens for compensation for seized property, but in line with the decision made by Racan's government we are obliged to launch talks with other countries, such as the United States and Slovenia, the minister said, adding the procedure was not simple.
Asked to comment on the case of the Macedonian Army Chief of Staff Miroslav Stojanovski who, according to the Croatian media is suspected of having committed war crimes in Vukovar in 1991, the justice minister said that all war crimes committed in Croatia must be processed.
