OSIJEK, Nov 27 (Hina) - Representatives of Homeland War associations said on Sunday they were dissatisfied by the fact that crimes committed against Croatian soldiers had not been prosecuted yet and by the fact that members of Chetnik units were called as witnesses in investigations against Croatian war veterans.

After commemorating three members of the Croatian Army's 106th Brigade at a monument by Biljska Road near Osijek in eastern Croatia, they held a news conference, blocking traffic for 10 minutes.

The president of Osijek-Baranja County Association of Homeland War Volunteers and Veterans, Simun Bubalo, said no one had been punished for the deaths of the three soldiers. He added the culprits were Chetniks who had been amnestied and were now testifying against Croatian war veterans, even in Belgrade.

Bubalo also complained that Croatian war veterans were still being called for police interviews and even maltreated.

Asked by the press if the latest investigations into the killing of Serb civilians in Osijek had political undertones, Bubalo said he felt there existed a certain political pressure. He added veterans' associations were speaking now because they saw that the finger was being pointed at war veterans all over the country.
