LJUBLJANA, Nov 27 (Hina) - Slovene President Janez Drnovsek on Saturday received his Albanian counterpart Alfred Moisiu, who is in a working visit to Slovenia, Drnovsek's office said in a press release on Sunday.

The meeting was agreed during a conference of Central European heads of state in Zagreb last month. It focused on bilateral relations and the situation in the region, notably the Kosovo issue.

Moisiu said he would like Slovenia to support Albania in its drawing closer to the European Union.

On Monday, Drnovsek is scheduled to visit Montenegro.

The Slovene daily Delo said in Sunday's issue that the authorities in Podgorica guaranteed Drnovsek would be welcomed and provided with a safe stay despite statements by leaders of opposition parties close to Belgrade that Drnovsek's visit was a provocation because he proposed independence for Kosovo and that he was not welcome in Montenegro.

Delo said the Serb People's Party announced demonstrations against Drnovsek's arrival in Podgorica at 11 am on Monday, although Drnovsek's host, President Filip Vujanovic, announced he would ban the rally.
