Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus visitedthe northern Serbian town of Sombor and met representatives of localauthorities and local business people to talks about the developmentof the region, the establishment of EU standards and the position ofnational minorities.
SUBOTICA, Nov 14 (Hina) - As part of a campaign called "Europe
Knocks on Your Door", launched by the Serbian government, the ambassadors of
Croatia and Great Britain in Serbia and Montenegro, Tonci Stancic and David
Gowan, and Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus visited the northern
Serbian town of Sombor and met representatives of local authorities and local
business people to talks about the development of the region, the establishment
of EU standards and the position of national minorities. The
Croatian ambassador said large minorities such as the Croatian minority in
Serbia and the Serbian minority in Croatia must be "the bridge that connects
two countries". He said the two countries must solve the issue of minorities on
the principle of reciprocity.
Serbian deputy PM Labus said it was important for Serbia and Montenegro
that Croatia's joined the Eu as soon as possible.
