"Croatian Radio and Television manager Mirko Galic believes he has the right to comment on and try to end discussions on (Bosnian Croat military leader Ivica) Rajic's testimony about the shelling of Sarajevo, which have started only recently, while at the same time the glorification of the NDH by a guest in another programme is tolerated, without the editor of that programme having distanced herself from it," Pupovac said at a news conference in the parliament building, which he called to comment on the latest
events on the HTV.
He explained that the programme in question was the "Otvoreno" talk show whose editor was Hloverka Novak Srzic and in which "a returnee emigrant from Australia glorified April 10".
Asked whether the journalist should be replaced over this, Pupovac said he did not have the right to replace or suggest which reporter should be replaced.
Omissions like these harm sensitive ethnic relations on the ground because "the HTV glorifies things that are not glorified anywhere in the civilised world and which are in direct collision with the preamble to the Croatian Constitution", Pupovac said.
At the same time, the opening of a debate on what happened in Bosnia-Herzegovina is not allowed, despite the fact that the public is clearly interested in such a debate because Croatia's relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina, the position of Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina and democratic relations in Croatia depend on it, Pupovac said.
Asked if he believed that Ladisic was replaced due to political pressure and if so by whom, Pupovac said he assumed that the replacement was due to political pressure, but he could not claim that this was true.
