Senior officials of the HDZ BH, Barisa Colak, Ivo Miro Jovic and Dragan Covic, this summer met with an EPP delegation, led by EPP president Wilfried Martens, who requested that Covic resign and that the party hold a new election convention.
"I regret to say that as a member of the EPP I agree with the assessment that someone leading the party in this way and making a decision to oust three leading party officials, in this case Martin Raguz, Bozo Ljubic and Josip Merdzo, is not up to the job," Sanader said.
"I regret that this is happening at a time when the HDZ BH is supposed to be strong and be a partner to Bosniaks, Serbs and the international community in talks on the future of Bosnia-Herzegovina," Sanader said, expressing hope that the situation would be solved soon and that the party would consolidate.
A senior body of the HDZ BH on Wednesday decided to oust Ljubic, Raguz and Merdzo, who recently urged calling a party convention to elect a new party leader and replace Covic.
