TALLINN, Nov 7 (Hina) - Prime Minister Ivo Sanader has supported on the government's behalf an initiative by Zadar Roman Catholic Archbishop Ivan Prendja to have the central coastal city returned under the Church system in Croatia after several decades.

"Of course, under the Holy See, because there is no national Church, but the Zadar Archdiocese was practically, when it comes to Croatia, exterritorially linked to the Holy See," Sanader told Croatian reporters in Tallinn. He is visiting Estonia.

He said the entire matter had political connotations and connotations in Croatia-Italy relations. "I think Archbishop Prendja has made a very good move and request."

The PM said the government fully supported the initiative's political dimension, adding he thought it was time Zadar was finally returned under the Catholic Church system in Croatia and that the government would support this.
