All Saints' Day observed throughout Croatia by wreath-laying ceremonies, religious services

ZAGREB, Nov 1 (Hina) - On the occasion of All Saints' Day (November 1),Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks andPrime Minister Ivo Sanader on Tuesday laid wreaths and lit candles infront of the Cross in the Ally of Dead Croatian Soldiers in thecentral Zagreb cemetery of Mirogoj, in tribute to all who gave theirlives for the homeland.
ZAGREB, Nov 1 (Hina) - On the occasion of All Saints' Day (November 1), Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Tuesday laid wreaths and lit candles in front of the Cross in the Ally of Dead Croatian Soldiers in the central Zagreb cemetery of Mirogoj, in tribute to all who gave their lives for the homeland.

Delegations of the President Mesic, the parliament and the government also placed wreaths and lit candles at the common crypt in Mirogoj where mortal remains of unidentified victims from the Homeland Defence War were buried.

Prime Minister Sanader together with minister from his cabinet and Sabor Speaker Vladimir Seks and his deputy Djurdja Adlesic also held wreath-lying ceremonies at the grave of the first Croatian President Franjo Tudjman. also in Mirogoj.

The delegations of the parliament and the government, led by Seks and Sanader respectively, visited the Altar of the Homeland on Mount Medvednica overlooking Zagreb to pay tribute to all who died for Croatia, on the occasion of this religious holiday which is also a public holiday in Croatia.

During All Souls' Day (November 1) and All Saints' Day (November 2), Croatians visit graves of their dearest ones and religious services are held in cemeteries and Catholic and Protestant churches throughout the country.

The Primate of the Catholic Church in Croatia, Cardinal Bozanic, will say Requiem Mass in Mirogoj at 1600 hrs Tuesday.
